We took most of these pictures, such as the one to the left below, after a long drought last year. There are a
couple of recent pictures to show the change.  Please click on a picture to see a larger image.
This view is of the
entrance to a nice area in
a grove of trees at the
back of that first
meadow above, and the
camera is pointing back
North.
This view is
towards the South
in a meadow just
West of the first
one, and separated
by a fence and
another line of
trees.
This is a view of an area in
that grove of trees, pointing
back Northeast towards the
first camara spot, which of
course cannot be seen from
this point.
A good location.  A great find.
My wonderful, loving wife Kathleen
has a real gift for finding real
estate.
She found the place that is now
Bethel Barnhouse, where we live.  It increased
in value so much that we realized it would be
good financial stewardship to sell, reduce our
debt, and build again.  She found this and we
bought it for our new home, and to have land
for our children.  It is in a nice area East of
Greenville.  This land has also increased in
value, and the first has not yet sold.  Then,
the bottom fell out of the housing market, but
the land market is still good, so we are leaving
this on the market and now plan to stay in our
home.
A nice assortment of beautiful trees.
You can dig a new pond and build a
new fence, but you can't plant a
200-year-old oak tree.  It's
either there on the property or
it's not.
There are several beautiful old oak trees on this property, as well as
other beautiful trees.  Here is one near to a very old cistern
indicating that this was once a homesite.
Even so, there are other items that are not pictured on this page yet.
I hope to get a current pictures of the pond that is now full, and
pictures showing the grass lush and green from all the rain we have had
this year.  I got out there this weekend and here are a couple more
pictures.  I hope there will be more soon.
There are areas of woods and areas of meadows and they are interpersed
over the property.  There is a medium-sized pond and two smaller ones.
The land also goes down to Wolf Creek along the Western side of the
property and somewhere between ten and fifteen acres is in the flood
plain.  There is also sandier soil than you normally find in Hunt County and
that makes it much easier to work and it also drains well.
We were glad to learn that this
land has a history, with an old
homestead.  There is also an
old
barn that looks to have been
built about a hundred years ago.

Click here to find out more
about that.

This peaceful land seems
undisturbed by the modern
world.  I saw a grey fox,
hummingbirds, and other kinds of
birds, and we have all seen
evidence of coyotes and racoons
and other animal life.  There is
also a range of plant life from
stately trees to cactus and fern
and colorful wildflowers.

This view is from the
front of the property
looking SouthWest into
the first meadow.
